Los Angeles County residents 65 and older can register for COVID-19 vaccination appointments, authorities announced on Jan. 19.

Residents in the high-priority age group are encouraged to visit vaccinatelacounty.com to schedule appointments, which began on Jan. 19. Residents without computer access can call (833)540-0473 from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. for help with reservations.

The vaccine supply is still extremely limited, and the Los Angeles County Public Health Department continues to urge patience. County officials will work with federal and state partners to expand capacity and supply in the weeks ahead.

To ensure that people at higher risk of transmission and illness are vaccinated first, Los Angeles County has established a tier system. In addition to those 65 and older, priority for current vaccination is for frontline health care workers and residents and staff at skilled nursing and long-term care facilities. The strategy aims to protect the entire community by ensuring that the most vulnerable and most critical health care workers are not infected with COVID-19.

The opening of appointment registration for those 65 and older was announced during the same time the county opened five high-capacity vaccination sites on Jan. 19. The closest site to the local area is The Forum, 3900 W. Manchester Blvd., Inglewood. The other sites are located at Pomona Fairplex, 1101 W McKinley Ave., Pomona; California State University, Northridge, 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge,. L.A. County Office of Education, 12830 Columbia Way, Downey; and Six Flags Magic Mountain, 26101 Magic Mountain Parkway, Valencia.
