The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and the La Brea Tar Pits are offering several exhibits through the holiday season.
“Rise Up LA: A Century of Votes for Women” celebrates the 19th Amendment’s centennial year and honors 100 years of passion and progress through narratives about everyday women who shaped the suffrage movement and the political landscape through voting, community organizing, and by fighting for rights in the workplace, classroom, and community from the turn of the century through the current moment.
While the exhibition is currently available online at nhm.org/vote, NHM will present the full exhibition on site at the museum at a later date.
“Adventures in Nature Connected” will be available online from Jan. 4 to 8, 2021, where attendees can explore the sticky world of asphalt at La Brea Tar Pits. Children can attend interactive virtual sessions full of hands-on activities and scientific investigation in which they will explore the sticky fate of sabertooth cats, mammoths and much more. For more information and to register, visit nhmlac.org/adventures-nature.
