Join FILM at LACMA for a digital screening of “Sound of Metal” on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m.

The movie, which will be available on Amazon Prime on Dec. 4, was co-written by Darius Marder and Abraham Marder, directed by Darius Marder, and stars Riz Ahmed and Olivia Cooke. In addition to giving people a unique opportunity to see the movie free of charge, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art will also host a post-screening conversation with Ahmed and Darius Marder.

In this feature film, the life of an itinerant punk-metal drummer begins to unravel when he suddenly loses his hearing, and with it, his identity. During a series of adrenaline-fueled one-night gigs, punk-metal drummer Ruben (Ahmed) begins to experience intermittent hearing loss. When a specialist tells him his condition will rapidly worsen, he thinks his music career – and with it his life – is over. His bandmate and girlfriend Lou (Cooke) checks the recovering heroin addict into a secluded sober house for the deaf in hopes it will prevent a relapse and help him learn to adapt to his new situation.
