A 37-year-old woman from Malibu has been charged with attacking a Black female security guard on Oct. 5 in the parking lot of the Pavilions supermarket in West Hollywood and using racial epithets during the incident.
Kashmire Duran, 37, faces one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon and assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. The victim allegedly threw a glass bottle at the security guard. Duran is also charged with one misdemeanor count of violation of civil rights for allegedly using the racial epithets.
Prosecutors said the security guard attempted to stop an argument involving Duran when the defendant insulted her, threw a glass bottle and assaulted her, prosecutors said. Duran faces a maximum sentence of six years in prison.
The case remains under investigation by the detectives at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station.
