October is Civility Month in Beverly Hills, and this year, Beverly Hills High School alumnus Thomas Recupero was named the winner of the Embrace Civility Award on Oct. 13.
Recupero graduated from BHHS earlier this year, and the straight-A student is now a freshman at Washington University in St. Louis.
Human Relations Commission Chair Ori Blumenfeld said Recupero “embodies exactly what this award is about.”
“He is a wonderful role model of positive behavior, takes a stand supporting respect and responsible actions, and he acts as a positive ally in student-to-student relations,” Blumenfeld said.
The sentiment was echoed by Recupero’s English teacher, Loren Newman, who nominated him for the award.
“The silver lining of COVID was getting to spend extra time with Thomas and really get to know him … He really fits everything that this award embodies,” Newman said.
Recupero said he was “truly humbled” to be considered someone “who embodied the values of this award.”
“I do not know what the future holds for me, but I do know I will continue to serve others and the Beverly Hills community in some capacity,” Recupero said.
