In Beverly Hills, excavation continues underneath Wilshire Boulevard at the site of the future Wilshire/Rodeo subway station. Currently, excavation has reached an average depth of 60 feet, and crews will continue excavating to a depth of 100 feet. Underground work is occurring 24 hours at the site. Hauling hours for removing the soil are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., daily.

Wilshire Boulevard has been reduced to two lanes in each direction between Beverly and Canon drives to facilitate the removal of soil, and may be reduced to one lane in each direction at night. Reeves Drive will remain closed during excavation, as well as sidewalks on the west side of Reeves Drive and the south side Wilshire Boulevard between Beverly and Reeves drives. The closures on Wilshire Boulevard and Reeves Drive are anticipated to remain in place until excavation is completed in 2021.

Instruments are being installed along the tunnel alignment and around the station box area to monitor ground movement, settlement and other geological impacts. The instruments are being installed on public and private properties and the work will be ongoing. Work hours on major streets are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekends. Work hours on residential streets are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Instruments will be installed along Wilshire Boulevard from Linden Drive to La Cienega Boulevard, as well as on Charleville Boulevard and Young, Lasky, Moreno and Spalding drives. Intermittent closures of traffic lanes, alleys, sidewalks, crosswalks and parking meters may be required during work hours.

Concrete and material deliveries to the Wilshire/La Cienega station are expected to continue in October. Work activities will be conducted from the Gale staging yard and may require intermittent traffic control on Wilshire Boulevard. Larger concrete deliveries are anticipated to occur once every two to three weeks and will require lane reductions.

Gale Drive will also be intermittently closed at Wilshire Boulevard to support construction in the Gale staging yard. Work hours are 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Access to Gale Drive will be maintained from San Vicente Boulevard. The closure is necessary to accommodate a large number of vehicles entering and exiting the construction staging yard. The 720 bus stop at Wilshire and La Cienega Boulevard has been temporarily relocated to Willaman Drive.

A K-rail enclosure has been implemented in the center lanes of the intersection of Wilshire/San Vicente. The work zone supports tunnel and mitigation work and is anticipated to be in place through the end of the month. All left turns in the intersection will be restricted. Directional closures will be implemented on weekends.

At Wilshire/Fairfax, station construction, hauling and concrete pouring are ongoing. Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between San Diego Way and Spaulding Avenue through summer 2021. Intermittent lane closures may be in place to support deck panel maintenance and investigations in the Wilshire/Fairfax station area. Anticipated work hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday. Ogden Drive will be closed intermittently Monday through Saturday at Wilshire Boulevard, and Orange Grove Avenue remains closed south of Wilshire Boulevard.

Throughout the Miracle Mile, intermittent lane reductions may be required along Wilshire Boulevard and surrounding residential streets to support instrumentation installation, environmental testing and street maintenance. Work hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. 

Hauling, deliveries and tunneling support are also ongoing at the Wilshire/La Brea staging yards and will continue as tunneling progresses. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., Monday through Saturday. Through Friday, Oct. 2, Sycamore Avenue will be closed 100 feet north of Wilshire Boulevard at night to support work on a waterline.

At Wilshire/Rimpau, a work zone on the west side of Wilshire Boulevard is expected to be in place until March 2021 to support concrete pouring and underground subway tunnel construction. Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between June Street and Muirfield Road.

Tunneling support and cross passage work is also occurring near Wilshire/Western. Intermittent single-lane closures will be required on Wilshire Boulevard between Western Avenue and Manhattan Place. Work hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
