The Los Angeles Zoo is holding a drive-in movie series on three weekends in October culminating in a Halloween “spooktacular.”
The classic drive-in movie experience kicks off Friday, Oct. 16, and runs through Sunday, Nov. 1. Each weekend follows a different theme: “Animal Adventures,” “The Brilliant Betty White” and “Hair-Raising Halloween.” Movie theater fare will be available through mobile food ordering from each car. The night under the stars will allow families and friends to enjoy a favorite pastime while remaining safe and physically distanced.
During the first two weekends, the gate opens at 6 p.m. with pre-show entertainment featuring favorite animals, trivia games and more. The movies start at 8 p.m. Pricing for the two weekends is $40 per vehicle with up to two people; $50 per member vehicle with three or more people; and $55 per general admission vehicle with three or more people.
For the final weekend, the L.A. Zoo’s Halloween celebration includes a “Spooktacular” four-night drive-in movie experience starting Thursday, Oct. 29 featuring Halloween classics. Gather for a ghoulishly fun yet safe night that includes all the traditional Halloween frightful decor, bags of candy and virtual costume contest. The zoo’s parking lot will be transformed into a creepy-cool classic drive-in with a festively decorated entry replete with photo opportunities and a candy pick-up station. Get in the spirit by dressing in costume for a chance to win prizes. The first 50 decorated cars to arrive will receive a pumpkin and carving stencil depicting an L.A. Zoo animal. The gate opens at 6 p.m. for pre-show entertainment prior to the start of the movies at 8:30 p.m. Pricing for the final weekend is $100 per vehicle with up to two people; $125 per member vehicle with three or more people; and $140 per general admission vehicle with three or more people.
Ticket purchases support the zoo’s conservation and education work. Tickets are extremely limited and are expected to sell out quickly. The zoo is located at 5333 Zoo Drive. For information and schedule, visit lazoo.org/movies.
