In early Spring 2020, a significant number of BHUSD parents were feeling despair about where our district was headed, largely due to the epic failure of online learning, or rather, the lack of any meaningful education whatsoever.
Several other alarming problems plague our district too, including languishing high school construction lasting years with nominal progress, if any at all in some areas; millions of taxpayer dollars wasted on futile litigation, among other patterns of wasteful and questionable tax dollar use; the plummeted ranking of our schools persisting for years; and ongoing indoctrination in some of our children’s classrooms. We put out a call for someone, anyone, to step up, speak up and help put an end to this downward spiral and run for the Beverly Hills School Board.
The only person who stood up for us was Donna Tryfman, and we are so grateful.
Here are some things I have learned. Donna is a widow and single mother with a highly successful legal career as a public defender. A seasoned public servant is precisely what we need. She is an attorney and an advocate.
I’ve also learned that Donna is a staunchly ethical person with an unparalleled work ethic. She is an honest and transparent person of great intellect and purpose. Donna is courageous and has demonstrated that she will do what is right. Her actions match her words.
Donna’s longstanding and highly successful professional career clearly establishes that she is dedicated to truth, integrity, ethics and justice. In fact, she is the only candidate with a verifiable track record when it comes to the qualities that matter for this volunteer position. Donna’s work on the board will reflect the priorities of those she represents. It is our great fortune that Tryfman stepped up first and when no one else would.
