The Beverly Hills Bar Association will host a 90-minute debate on Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. between Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey and challenger George Gascón via Zoom.
Professor Beth Colgan, a criminal law and procedure expert from UCLA School of Law, will moderate the debate. The John M. Langston Bar Association of Los Angeles, Mexican American Bar Association, Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Los Angeles County, Italian American Lawyers Association, Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, Consumer Attorneys of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association Criminal Justice Section are co-sponsoring the debate.
“We are honored to host this debate in the most-watched district attorney election in the nation,” said BHBA President Adam Siegler. “There has been a tremendous amount of interest in this race from our members and the members of the co-sponsoring bar associations. We have hundreds of registrants to date and they’ve submitted dozens of suggested questions to our moderator. It’s energizing to see this level of engagement in this important local election, and we look forward to having both candidates share their ideas with our local legal community and with the voters.
