Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education Member Nick Melvoin hosted a virtual town hall for Hollywood schools on Sept. 14. The event brought together members of school communities, elected officials, local leaders and Dr. Travis Brandy, the LAUSD’s new Community of Schools Administrator for Hollywood, to provide updates and share resources, and answer questions. U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff, State Sen. Ben Allen, California Assemblyman Richard Bloom and Los Angeles City Councilman David Ryu provided opening remarks and showed support for local schools.
LAUSD’s new Community of Schools model, which was implemented district-wide in July, are regional groupings of schools that each have their own office with local district staff to make it easier and more efficient for students and families to obtain support.
