Because of the pandemic, Ringo Starr was not able to do his usual birthday celebration this year, so instead he hosted an online concert and fundraiser: “Ringo’s Big Birthday Show.”
The broadcast event premiered on his 80th birthday and featured unseen concert and unique performances by Starr, Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, Ben Harper and Dave Grohl, Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr and Sheila E. The event also was a benefit for four charities: Black Lives Matter Global Network, the David Lynch Foundation, Musicares and WaterAid.
Starting July 14, an audio version will be available exclusively on SiriusXM, followed by an exclusive, one-week-only streaming event on ceek.com. Additionally, a Starr-curated playlist can be heard in over 10,000 Starbucks locations in the U.S. and Canada through July 18.
Previous Starr birthday celebrations were held at the Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood and Hard Rock Cafés in Nashville, New York City and Nice, France, among other locations.
