Burger Week begins in L.A.
From July 12-18 participating Los Angeles, Long Beach and Orange County restaurants and chefs are creating innovative burger specials during Burger Week. The menus also include a variety of selections, sides and beverages. Everything from classic cheeseburgers to veggie burgers are priced at $10, $15, $20 and $25 for outdoor dining and takeout. Tu Madre’s patio dining
Tu Madre’s food celebrates flavors from across the city with a diverse array of ingredients and cooking techniques, including slow-roasted and braised meats and house-made fermented chili salsas. Spartina on Melrose
Chef Stephen Kalt’s restaurant on Melrose is leading the charge on healthy and safe dining by implementing a new multi-functional nano coating technology by Macoma Environmental Technologies. Spartina will become the first full-service restaurant in the country to implement these methods, along with temperature checks, constant cleaning and appropriately distanced tables. Spago expands outdoor dining
Due to changes for indoor dining, Spago has adjusted its outdoor seating to utilize and include a sidewalk mural and cul-de-sac along Canon Drive. Honey’s Kettle expansion
Honey’s Kettle Fried Chicken founder Vincent Williams noticed an increased demand for food delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic, and he opened his first drop kitchen with another planned to open in Hollywood later this summer. Fans can enjoy the kettle-cooked, farm-fresh chicken, as well as handmade baked goods – including the Biscuit Bake, a new breakfast creation. The premium kettle chicken sandwich is a kettle-fried breast fillet with shredded lettuce, tomato and topped with Honey’s house sauce on a toasted artisan bun. Gotta have S’more S’mookies
Teenager Nicolas Johnson created the new S’mookie by replacing graham cracker with a chocolate chip cookie. Johnson calls himself the CCO (chief cookie officer) of Gotta Have S’more, and plans to put the profits towards his college education and several charities related to Black Lives Matter. His mother, Annalisa Johnson, owns Annie’s Soul Delicious, a Sunday pop-up that turned into a full-time soul food restaurant. Operating at the same location, now you can pick up lunch or dinner along with S’mores and S’mookies. The sweet treats are available in several flavors ranging from milk and dark chocolate to salted caramel, peanut butter cup, and cookies and cream. Seasonal flavors include peanut butter and jelly, spicy Mexican hot chocolate, pumpkin pie, strawberries and cream, and espresso bean. Counterpart Vegan is open
The all-day vegan restaurant in Echo Park specializing in plant-based comfort foods is abiding by government health and safety mandates to stay open. The restaurant is keeping its capacity to 60%, maintaining social distancing in dining and waiting areas and having all employees receive daily thermal temperature checks and wellness checks, as well as wear masks and gloves.
