Owners of the Maurice and Paul Marciano Art Foundation and representatives of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees District Council 36 have reached an agreement to end litigation initiated by AFSCME and a former employee following the museum’s closure last November.
Under their agreement, the museum will provide about 10 weeks of severance pay to each of the 70 visitor service associates who were laid off when the museum closed three days after the employees announced they were unionizing, according to AFSCME.
The closure preceded weeks of protests by the laid-off workers, supporters and AFSCME members, including at the former Marciano Art Foundation building at 4357 Wilshire Blvd.
