Firefighters extinguished a blaze in a rear dwelling behind a house in the 100 block of North Vista Street in the Fairfax District at approximately 3 a.m. on July 1 and found a deceased man inside the residence.

Authorities believe the fire was accidental, but no further information about how it started was available.  The exact cause remains under investigation.

The incident was described as a “contents fire,” meaning furnishings were burned but the structure itself did not sustain significant damage. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in 17 minutes. No other injuries were reported.

The Los Angeles County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner identified the decedent as Roland Guidry, 58. The specific cause of death was deferred pending further investigation.
