This week on LACMA @ Home, Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s digital platform dedicated to connecting Angelenos with museum content, staff have curated content highlighting landscape related art.
Curator Stephen Little focused on artist Qiu Ying, who lived during the Ming dynasty and whose art reveals a series of paradoxes. Curators of Chinese art Florence and Harry Sloan joined Little as they shared highlights from the first exhibition on Ying ever organized outside of Asia.
On July 11 at 10 a.m., join an encore of a special virtual yoga session inspired by works on view in “Rufino Tamayo: Innovation and Experimentation” led by artist Teresa Flores with Rebecca Plevin, certified yoga instructor and reporter covering immigration and the California-Mexico border.
Participants will learn about Tamayo’s life and work through embodied movement.
At LACMA @ Home, learn how to turn 2D shapes into 3D forms and give drawings depth. Follow along with LACMA’s Make Art @ Home art-making video as staff go over terms, styles, shading and practice drawing 3D forms. These weekly videos are produced in English and Spanish.
The videos can be seen at the museum’s website or on its YouTube channel.
