Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell, 13th District, and representatives of the city’s Housing + Community Investment Department have announced that the application period for the $100 million Emergency Rental Assistance Subsidy Program will run from Monday, July 13, at 8 a.m. through Friday, July 17, at 11:59 p.m.
The City Council on June 23 approved the allocation of $100 million in federal CARES Act funding to be placed in the City’s COVID-19 emergency program. The Housing + Community Investment Department estimates the programs will help approximately 50,000 households with two months of assistance, with a total of $2,000 being awarded to each recipient.
“Pulling together at every level of government as never before is required to keep people housed and businesses open during this unprecedented time,” O’Farrell said.
To qualify, tenants must live in Los Angeles and earn 80% or less of the average median income in their neighborhood. Upon approval, the rent will be paid directly to property owners and landlords. For information, call (844)944-1868, or visit hcidla.lacity.org.
