The Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust and Giffords Law Center are holding “Guns and Hate in the Coronavirus Era,” an online presentation on Wednesday, June 24, at noon.
Hate crimes and gun violence are on the rise in the United States, with deadly shootings in recent years in synagogues, churches and nightclubs targeting religious groups, racial minorities and the LGBTQ community. Join Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust and Giffords Law Center for a conversation about the intersection between guns and hate. The seminar will examine statistics and trends in the number of hate crimes and the groups being targeted, with a focus on how the COVID-19 pandemic is fueling hate incidents and gun purchases. The speakers will be Robyn Thomas, executive director of Giffords Law Center, and Jordanna Gessler, vice president of education and exhibits for the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust.
The suggested donation is $10. For information and to register, visit lamoth.org/news–events/events/gunsandhate.
