The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Dick Clark Productions and NBC announced that the 78th annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, will take place on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021. The ceremony will air live coast to coast from 5 to 8 p.m. on NBC from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
Last month, the Beverly Hills City Council approved a plan to have the Globes take place on Jan. 7, a Thursday, in order to accommodate NBC’s broadcast of an additional football game on Jan. 10, when the awards ceremony was expected to be held.
However, the Academy Awards announced earlier this month that it would delay its broadcast until April 25 due to COVID-19 concerns, leaving open the previously scheduled date for the Oscars, Sunday, Feb. 28.
To accommodate both domestic and international film and television productions, the HFPA will provide further guidance around eligibility, voting period and revised nominations announcement timing in the coming weeks.
