Organizations created ways to share their art through alternative methods such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s new series “At Home With…”
John Adams, Los Angeles Philharmonic creative chair, recorded a show for this week’s program that runs through May 5-8 at 6 p.m. From his home in Northern California, Adams talked about his life as a composer and conductor, and shared a curated selection of classical music.
Adams has been the LA Phil’s creative chair since 2009, and recently wrote a piano concert for pianist Yuja Wang titled “Must the Devil Have All the Good Tunes?” LA Phil launched “At Home With…” in partnership with Classical KUSC in Los Angeles and Classical KDFC in San Francisco as means to bring music to L.A.
Each episode of the series presents guests’ curated musical selections along with their thoughts of the current landscape of classical music. KUSC’s Brian Lauritzen hosts and interviews guests, and produces the show.
“At Home With…” can be heard weekly, Tuesday through Friday, from 6-7 p.m. on KUSC and KDFC. People can listen to KUSC on the air on 91.5, livestream it on KUSC.org or listen for free through iOS and Android apps. The show is also syndicated nationally by PRX.
