Residents and community organizations are coming together to support physicians and the health care staff at Olympia Medical Center during the COVID-19 pandemic. Surgical masks and Keurig coffee machines and pods have been donated, as well as food from Rocco’s Pizza, Sweetgreen, The Park’s Finest BBQ and Pho Ever Bistro. The hospital staff is very appreciative and the donations have boosted morale, said Chief Nursing Officer Sheryl Howland.
The hospital requires all visitors to be reviewed for symptoms and all employees and medical staff to have temperatures taken before entry, to check for fever and other symptoms of COVID-19. Visitors cannot enter unless a patient is under life-threatening conditions.
“We are so thankful for the hard work of the hospital staff,” Olympia Medical Center CEO Matt Williams said. “The teamwork within our departments and coordination has truly made a difference in our effectiveness. Our gratitude goes out to the community and donors for their joining together in support of the hospital’s courageous healthcare workers.”
