The Music Center welcomes Angelenos for a new series “Play on the Plaza!” that offers free family activities on select Saturdays in March, April and May on the redesigned Music Center Plaza.
“Play on the Plaza!” launches its first event on March 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Music Center will feature classic Looney Tunes cartoons playing on LED screens, multiple lawn games such as Jenga, Connect 4, cornhole and ladder toss, and offer a photo booth.
Families are encouraged to splash around Music Center’s fountain when they need to cool down.
Day activities include “Hello Critter Goat Yoga” sessions in 30- minute intervals starting at 11 a.m. led by certified yoga instructors. Nigerian dwarf goats will be roaming the class as participants create playgrounds for the animals.
Bob Baker Marionette Theater’s “A Springtime Spectacular on Strings” will perform at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. The Los Angeles institution has delighted audiences with its puppetry and theatrical experiences for 57 years.
Art-making workshops led by Ana Miro from the Artsy Wagon and Joan Harrison will offer a free opportunity to teach participants how to craft a butterfly magnet and a floral crown to keep and take home. Materials will be provided for children and adults.
On Saturday, April 25, “Play on the Plaza!” second event will be organized in conjunction with Grand Park’s “Our L.A. Voices.” The Music Center will unveil a newly commissioned art filter for the plaza’s LED screens. The interactive software will create living art by capturing and relaying the actions of visitors in the style of an L.A.-based artist.
The Music Center is located at 135 North Grand Ave.
