“From the Top,” a nationally distributed NPR program heard throughout the Los Angeles region on KUSC FM 91.5, brings its next live recording event to the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, March 4, at 7 p.m.
Host Peter Dugan and co-host Viya Gupta will interview and perform with artists ages 10 to 18 years old to showcase their talent and personal life on-air.
Featured artists include 10-year-old pianist Olivia Larco from Pasadena, 17-year-old cellist Mei Hotta from Torrance, 14-year-old violinist Bianca Ciubancan from Chicago, a performance by the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus and the Quantum Saxophone Quartet from Dallas.
The 90-minute performance is presented in conjunction with GRoW @ The Wallis.
Live recording events of “From the Top” are one part of a larger residency, which includes leadership training, community engagement and career development programs designed to explore how each of the young participating musicians can utilize their skills beyond traditional performance settings.
An additional non-broadcast concert will be played by the young artists on March 5 at 10:30 a.m. for some 500 children in grades 3 through 12 from seven local schools.
Tickets run from at $35 to $59. The Wallis is located at 9390 N. Santa Monica Blvd. For more information, visit thewallis.org.
