Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti recently joined Los Angeles Fire Department representatives for the launch of FRV 82, the fire department’s fourth fast-response vehicle.

“Angelenos deserve the best-equipped and most effective fire department in America,” Garcetti said. “The fast-response vehicle is part of that commitment, and it puts the idea behind my 2020 Vision for L.A.’s Future, driving innovations to define the future we’re building to work in our communities now.”

FRV 82 will serve Hollywood. The LAFD now has fast response vehicles assigned to every geographic bureau with units already deployed in Downtown L.A., Watts and Sylmar. The FRV carries all the equipment and medical supplies of a paramedic unit and is also equipped with a 300-gallon water tank with pumping capacity. Instead of deploying an engine or ambulance to respond to a medical emergency, the FRV can now take those calls, get to the site more quickly and offer life saving resources, Garcetti said.
