Re “This world has a little less luster: Fallen West Hollywood sheriff’s detective remembered for helping others,” Jan. 16 issue

I wanted to thank you for that heartfelt obituary you wrote on [Det. Amber Leist], it was much more personal and touching than any of the other pieces I read in any of the other publications. I’m sure that story meant a lot to her family and those who knew her.

I didn’t know her well, but remember her fondly as a great, hard-working detective who was always a pleasure to collaborate with. Thanks for taking the time to tell her story so vividly. It was a good reminder to me of how important local news is and what a great voice you are for our community.
