Found Oyster one-night collaboration
Chef Ari Kolender welcomes chef Mailea Weger back to Los Angeles with a one-night-only kitchen collaboration on Saturday, Jan. 25, from noon to 11 p.m. Weger opened L.A.’s cult-favorite restaurant Gjusta as sous chef and was later promoted to its sister restaurant, Gjelina, before leaving for Nashville. Weger prepares healthy, flavor-driven and vegetable-forward cuisine. The California fare and Old-World, European-style dishes on Found Oyster’s menu will be offered with Weger’s additions. Lucques honors poet Robert Burns
Suzanne Goin’s prepares Scottish classics on Jan. 26 while whisky flights are served and live bagpiping is played by the Lady Bagpiper Megan Kenney. Honey Butter Fried Chicken in L.A.
Chicago’s cult-favorite fried chicken hot spot makes its way to Los Angeles for a pop-up on Jan. 27. Co-owners and chefs Josh Kulp and Christine Cikowski are partnering with the team at Brentwood’s Pizzana, offering a selection of their signature sandwiches. Guests will have the option to order Honey Butter Fried Chicken’s namesake sandwich with fried chicken strips and honey butter or the Chicago fan-favorite, The OG, a sandwich with fried chicken strips, candied jalapeno mayo and crunchy slaw. Pizzana chicken parmesan sandwiches made with crispy Jidori chicken will also be available. Curtis Stone’s Maude helps Australia
Michelin-starred restaurant Maude is offering a South Australia-inspired regional tasting menu now through spring. In solidarity with his home country, Stone will be donating 100% of the profits to his 2020 #Commit2One charity, Drought Angels. This female-founded Australian nonprofit provides assistance to farmers across Australia impacted by natural disasters including the recent fires. Stone, along with executive chef Chris Flint and wine director Andrey Tolmachyov, journeyed across this diverse region of Australia recently for inspiration for this winter’s culinary experience. Distinct ingredients such as wattleseed, mountain pepper, lemon myrtle and strawberry gum will be included in the courses. The menu features milk curd with black truffle, green garlic and grilled lettuces; spiny lobster with turnip, citrus and vanilla; a vegetarian Aussie hand pie; and pheasant with smoked sausage and mushroom panzanella. To complement the dishes, Tolmachyov offers classic and reserve wine pairings from the South Australia region. The nine-course menu is offered for $150 per person, with the wine pairing available for $125 and reserve wine pairing for $250.
