During this season of giving, the American Red Cross urges eligible donors to give the gift of life to help ensure patients don’t have to worry about the availability of blood this winter. Blood and platelet donations of all types are needed.
Holiday travel and severe winter weather often lead to a decline in blood donations. Blood and platelets are needed every day for those receiving treatment for cancer and leukemia, accident and burn victims, and surgical patients.
Through Jan. 5, those who donate blood or platelets to the Red Cross will receive a long-sleeved Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last.
Upcoming blood donation drives will be held from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 at the Ebell of Los Angeles, 4400 Wilshire Blvd.; and 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood Station, 780 N. San Vicente Blvd.
To locate a drive or schedule an appointment to donate blood or platelets, call (800)733-2767, or visit redcrossblood.org.
