The Producers Guild of America hosted the 31st annual Producers Guild Awards on Jan. 18 at the Hollywood Palladium.
Producers were recognized in 14 categories. Winners included “1917” for Theatrical Motion Pictures, “Succession” (Season 2) for Episodic Television – Drama, “Fleabag” (Season 2) for Episodic Television – Comedy, “Leaving Neverland” for Nonfiction Television and “Chernobyl” for Limited Series Television.
The Producers Guild Awards are often a bellwether for the Oscars. Since its inception, the PGA has predicted 21 of the 30 winners of the Academy Award for Best Picture.
2020 Producers Guild Awards honorees included Ted Sarandos (Milestone Award); Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B (David O. Selznick Achievement Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures); Marta Kauffman (Norman Lear Achievement in Television); Octavia Spencer (Visionary Award); and the Lionsgate film “Bombshell” (Stanley Kramer Award).
