The Los Angeles Police Department recently began additional enforcement at intersections in the west Los Angeles area with a high incidence of collisions and violations.
Known as the Directed Enforcement Task Force, authorities from the department’s Operations-West Bureau targeted the intersections of Santa Monica Boulevard and Century Park East, as well as Westwood and Sepulveda boulevards. Additional intersections included Century and Sepulveda boulevards, Lincoln and Washington boulevards, and Manchester Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard.
The task force’s goal is to reduce traffic collisions at specific intersections that have the highest incident of fatalities and severe injuries through education and enforcement. The Los Angeles Department of Transportation and LAPD partner on safety programs throughout the city of Los Angeles as part of Vision Zero, which seeks to end traffic deaths by 2025. The Directed Enforcement Task Force is a data-driven effort focused on locations where collisions can be prevented through education, enforcement and engineering.
