Nithya Raman, who is running for the 4th Council District seat in the March 3 election, is hosting a comedy fundraiser at the El Rey Theatre on Jan. 29.

“One of the reasons I’m running for council is to maintain our city’s cultural vibrancy. A big part of that is the entertainment industry, which creates art that is seen and listened to the world over,” Raman said.

The show, which begins at 8 p.m., will feature comedians Kate Berlant and Joel Kim Booster as hosts. Performers include Kristen Schaal, Karen Kilgariff, Reggie Watts, Paul F. Tompkins, James Adomian, Dave Anthony, Guy Branum and Ike Barinholtz.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $27, plus a $4.50 processing fee.
