Urth Caffe owner Shallom Berkman received the Kindness Recognition Award from Mayor John Mirisch and the Beverly Hills City Council on Jan. 9.

Berkman and his wife and co-owner, Jilla, are Beverly Hills residents who support local schools and community initiatives, such as Beverly Gardens Park and Friends of the Beverly Hills Public Library, Mirisch said.

“We’re grateful to the Berkman family for their commitment to building strong, connected communities in Beverly Hills and beyond,” Mirisch said.
