No Metro subway piling work is occurring in Beverly Hills through the beginning of the new year due to a holiday moratorium, but work is ongoing at many other locations along the Purple Line Extension project.
At the western end of the project in Century City, a traffic signal is being installed on Century Park East between Santa Monica and Constellation Boulevards, with work anticipated to continue through Dec. 31. A new mid-block traffic signal will allow access to Watt Plaza and help alleviate peak hour congestion. Work hours are 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Intermittent lane and sidewalk closures will be necessary on Century Park East for utility potholing and signal installation.
At the eastern edge of Beverly Hills, station construction, material deliveries, instrumentation and concrete pouring are ongoing near Wilshire/La Cienega. Work will be conducted 24 hours a day within the staging yards at Wilshire/La Cienega and Wilshire/Gale. Gale Drive will be intermittently closed at Wilshire Boulevard to support construction activities in the Gale staging yard.
Concrete and rebar deliveries also continue to the Wilshire/La Cienega station box and intermittent lane reductions, turn restrictions and sidewalk closures may be in place to support instrumentation work, and road and utility maintenance at Wilshire/La Cienega and Wilshire/Stanley.
Near Wilshire/Crescent Heights and Wilshire/La Jolla, utility and tunnel investigation is also ongoing. The work will occur from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and will require single lane closures along Wilshire Boulevard between Crescent Heights and San Vicente boulevards.
Station construction, hauling and concrete pouring also continues near Wilshire/Fairfax. Ogden Drive will be closed at Wilshire Boulevard and Orange Grove Avenue will be closed between Wilshire Boulevard and Eighth Street through June 2020. Intermittent lane closures may be in place to support deck panel maintenance and investigation in the Fairfax station area. Anticipated work hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday.
Hauling, deliveries and tunneling support is also occurring near Wilshire/La Brea and at a work zone in the center of Wilshire Boulevard at Sycamore Avenue. Hauling and deliveries to and from the La Brea staging yards will continue. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., Monday through Saturday.
Additionally, intermittent lane closures may be necessary on Wilshire Boulevard and side streets between Highland Avenue and Detroit Street. Traffic on Sycamore Avenue may be restricted intermittently at Wilshire Boulevard to support truck staging.
At Wilshire/Rimpau, construction at a work zone on the west side of the intersection is anticipated to be in place for 10 to 12 months. Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between June Street and Muirfield Road.
Tunneling support and street maintenance work is ongoing at Wilshire/Western. Northbound Manhattan Place will be closed intermittently just north of Wilshire Boulevard, Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Intermittent single lane closures may also be in place on Wilshire Boulevard between Western Avenue and Manhattan Place, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tunnel segment deliveries are occurring and 24-hour work will continue at the Western staging yard and cross passage excavation is also ongoing.
