On Dec. 16, Los Angeles City Clerk Holly L. Wolcott released the official list of candidates who have qualified to appear on the ballot for the March 2020 primary nominating election.

For Council District 4, incumbent City Councilman David Ryu will face homelessness nonprofit leader Nithya Raman and writer and women’s advocate Sarah Kate Levy.

In preparation for the consolidation of the city’s March 3, 2020, municipal election with the County of Los Angeles’ presidential primary election, a random alphabet drawing was conducted by the Secretary of State’s office to determine the order in which candidates’ names will appear on the ballot.

After the drawing, the ballot will list Raman first, followed by Ryu and Levy.

For individuals who wish to become write-in candidates, the write-in candidate filing period is Jan. 6-Feb. 18, 2020.
