No piling work is occurring during the holidays in Beverly Hills under a moratorium lasting through the beginning of the new year, but construction is occurring at other locations along the Purple Line Extension project route.

At the western end of Phase 2 of the project in Century City, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is conducting utility work on northbound Avenue of the Stars and plans to complete the work by the end of December. Starting in January, work will continue on Constellation Boulevard west of Avenue of the Stars and it is anticipated to be completed by the end of February. There will be no lane restrictions on eastbound Constellation Boulevard during the work.

Construction also continues on the installation of a traffic signal on Century Park East between Santa Monica and Constellation boulevards, with work anticipated to continue through Dec. 31. A new mid-block traffic signal will allow access to Watt Plaza and help alleviate peak hour congestion. Work hours are 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Intermittent lane and sidewalk closures will be necessary on Century Park East.

At the eastern edge of Beverly Hills, work continues at the future Wilshire/La Cienega subway station. Construction continues at the staging yards at Wilshire/La Cienega and Wilshire/Gale. Work will be conducted 24 hours a day within the staging yards. Gale Drive will be intermittently closed at Wilshire Boulevard Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to support construction in the Gale staging yard. The closure is a public safety measure due to high volumes of vehicle traffic to and from the property. Access to North Gale Drive will be maintained from San Vicente Boulevard.

Intermittent lane reductions, turn restrictions and sidewalk closures may also be in place to support instrumentation work and road and utility maintenance at Wilshire/La Cienega and Wilshire/Stanley.

Near Wilshire/Crescent Heights and Wilshire/La Jolla, utility work and tunnel investigation continues during off-peak hours from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays, and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends. Intermittent closures of one or two lanes will be required along Wilshire Boulevard between San Diego Way and San Vicente Boulevard.

Station construction, hauling and concrete pouring also continues near Wilshire/Fairfax. Intermittent closure of Ogden Drive is necessary at Wilshire Boulevard to facilitate the work. Anticipated work hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday.

Near Wilshire/La Brea and a work zone in the center of Wilshire Boulevard just east of Sycamore Avenue, hauling, deliveries and tunneling support continue. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., Monday through Saturday.

Additionally, intermittent lane closures may be necessary for instrumentation, environmental testing and street maintenance on Wilshire Boulevard and side streets between Highland Avenue and Detroit Street. Traffic on Sycamore Avenue may be restricted intermittently at Wilshire Boulevard to support truck staging. The work zone in the center of Wilshire Boulevard is necessary for construction of the Wilshire/La Brea subway station.

Another work zone near Wilshire/Rimpau supports underground construction closer to Western Avenue and is anticipated to be in place for 10 to 12 months. Wilshire Boulevard has been reduced to two lanes in each direction between June Street and Muirfield Road. Concrete and material deliveries are occurring at the site.

Near Wilshire/Western, tunneling support and street maintenance work is ongoing. Northbound Manhattan Place will be closed intermittently just north of Wilshire Boulevard, Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Access to nearby businesses is maintained and a signed pedestrian detour has been installed. The closure is a public safety measure while tunneling continues.

Intermittent single lane closures may also be in place on Wilshire Boulevard between Western Avenue and Manhattan Place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tunnel segment deliveries are occurring and 24-hour work will continue at the Western staging yard.
