On Nov. 14, Los Angeles City Councilman David Ryu, 4th District, announced support from a number of Los Angeles’ largest and most influential labor unions in his re-election campaign.
“At a time when income inequality threatens Los Angeles’ working families, our organized labor movement has defended workers and L.A.’s middle class every step of the way,” Ryu said. “Whether it’s fighting for a living wage, advocating for affordable housing or expanding green jobs for a sustainable future, our union allies have been champions for a more equitable Los Angeles.”
Ryu’s union endorsements include the Engineers and Architects Association; International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 33 and Local 80; International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 13, Local 63, Local 94 and Local Southern California District Council; International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36, International Union of Operating Engineers 12 and 501; Laborers Local 300 and Local 1309; Los Angeles Police Protective League; Los Angeles Professional Managers’ Association; Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building & Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO; Service Employees International Union Local 721 and Service Employees International Union-United Service Workers West; Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters; Teamsters Local 396, Local 399, Local 911 and Join Council 42; Plumbers & Fitters Local 761; United Firefighters of Los Angeles City Local 112; United Food and Commercial Workers Local 770 and United Nurses Association of California/Union of Health Care Professionals.
These endorsements come amid Ryu’s recent announcement that 100 grassroots activists and neighborhood leaders have endorsed his reelection campaign.
Earlier this month, Ryu launched his campaign by rolling out his first digital ad, titled “Reformer.”
