Refinery29, a media and entertainment company focused on young women, will touch down in Los Angeles with 29Rooms, a festival of culture, cause and creativity, which has sold over 150,000 tickets to date.
After a tour of the “Expand Your Reality” experience in Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Toronto and Washington, D.C., 29Rooms will return to the West Coast. The tour will take over Beverly Venue by HD Buttercup Venues, located at 4315 Beverly Blvd., from Nov. 8-17 and will bring together a diverse group of collaborators spanning the spectrum of art, entertainment, politics and style.
New to Los Angeles, 29Rooms will feature artist collaborations such as The Art Park and The Traveling Billboard. The Art Park, an artist collective that invites five artists from around the country to transform a geometric playground into a canvas for creativity, includes NNEKKAA, Yvette Mayorga, Dan Lam, hanski and Trap Bob. The Traveling Billboard is a full-scale billboard mural welcoming guests to 29Rooms that highlights trailblazing voices such as Sarah Emerson and HATECOPY (Maria Qamar).
For the first time, 29Rooms Los Angeles will feature “Portraits With A Stranger,” an interactive photo studio guided by choreographer Micaela E. Taylor where strangers are invited to connect with one another through physical movement, icebreakers and choreography before posing for a portrait.
“We are excited to be back in L.A. to welcome more people to explore their creativity and self-expression at 29Rooms,” said Piera Gelardi, executive creative director and co-founder of Refinery29. “Angelenos can expect a refreshed take on our ‘Expand Your Reality’ tour with plenty of opportunities to create, connect and take part in timely conversations like menstrual equity, representation in the arts and women’s safety.”
The dynamic event will feature returning collaborator such as Kali Uchis, Carlota Guerrero, Uzumaki Cepeda, The Hoodwitch and the ACLU. Additionally, 29Rooms will welcome brands including Facebook, Hulu, KeVita, Lola, Mugler, Smashbox and Uber. 29Rooms Los Angeles will also offer a food court and new 29Rooms merchandise available for purchase.
