On Nov. 25, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that he is backing City Council President Herb Wesson, 10th District, for Los Angeles County supervisor.
Garcetti shared an advertisement for Wesson’s campaign for the Board of Supervisors on his Twitter account and said Wesson’s “big heart is a big part of why I’m endorsing him.”
Wesson is running for supervisor in District 2, which is currently held by Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas. Ridley-Thomas was elected in 2008, 2012 and 2016, and is unable to run again due to term limits.
Other candidates include Jake Jeong, state Sen. Holly Mitchell (D-Los Angeles), Jorge Nuño, economic development director Jan C. Perry and Fred Martin Wimberley.
