West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will host the 36th annual West Hollywood Creative Business Awards 2019 on Nov. 21 at the 1 Hotel West Hollywood. The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a reception and silent auction sponsored by Beverly Center and end with an after-party sponsored by Capitol Drugs.
Each year, the WHCC, a nonprofit organization, celebrates businesses that have shown innovation and creativity in their business model, and the Creative Business Awards ceremony is the most important fundraiser for WHCC.
The 21 nominees in seven categories were chosen for their innovative approach to business and/or creative merits in product and service by the WHCC membership, its board of directors and the Special Events Committee. Members vote for their favorite nominees via an online ballot, and the winners are announced at the event.
The nominees for Creative Concept are Pura Vita, Fox in a Box and Dogpound.
The nominees for Corporate Innovation are Lord Jones, Fred Segal Sunset and Healthy Spot.
The nominees for John Chase Art & Design – a business that falls into the categories of art, film, performance art, fashion, design, architecture or any other creative arts realm – are 1 Hotel West Hollywood, Formosa Café and Conservatory West Hollywood.
The nominees for Creative Communications – awarded to a business within public relations, marketing, outdoor media, branding, televisual arts, copyrighting, technology, social media, graphic design, writing or similar areas – are WeHo Times, Canyon Country LA and Dog and a Duck.
The nominees for the WeHo Attraction Award – awarded to a business that attracts people to the West Hollywood area or caters to the visitor and tourism market – are Block Party, h.wood for Delilah + Bootsy Bellows and Shake Shack.
The nominees for Creative Community Service are Pavilions, Project Angel Food and the Collective Realty.
The nominees for the Innovative Sustainability Award are OfficeUntitled for the Harland, Bird and the RealReal.
The event also honors the Legacy Award winner. This year’s Legacy Award will be presented to Jamie Adler, who has worked in and been involved with the city of West Hollywood for three decades. As long as she can remember, she has been a part of Phyllis Morris Originals, a company founded in West Hollywood by her mother, Phyllis Morris, in 1958. Adler was a founding board member of the West Hollywood Design District and, for more than a decade, has served on the board of Visit West Hollywood, a destination marketing organization for the city.
