On Oct. 4, flowers were placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame star of Diahann Carroll, a Tony and Golden Globe-winning actress, singer, model and activist.
Carroll was honored with her Walk of Fame star at 7005 Hollywood Blvd. in front of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on April 3, 1990.
Carroll, who was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress, died on Oct. 4 at the age of 84.
In 1968, Carroll gained recognition for her work in the television show “Julia,” in which she became the first black woman to star in a non-stereotypical role. She also played Dominique Deveraux in “Dynasty.”
