Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti (left) welcomed Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, prime minister of Ireland, on Sept. 26 to inaugurate the opening of a new Irish Consulate in Los Angeles. The Irish Consulate in Los Angeles, located at 6380 Wilshire Blvd., Ste. 1205, will serve the large Irish diaspora in the region, promote cultural understanding and support business and investment. The L.A. region is home to over 380,000 Irish Americans, the second largest Irish population in the United States behind Boston. Los Angeles also has the third largest consular corps in the world.
