Malibu fundraiser to benefit struggling middle-schoolers
On Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m, the Emily Shane Foundation will present its fifth annual fall fundraiser.
The event, titled “Butterfly Magic,” will be held at Alumni Park at Pepperdine University in Malibu. Attendees can bring blankets and chairs to enjoy the event’s setting, a grassy field overlooking the ocean.
This event appeals to all ages and is an opportunity to support the foundation’s Successful Educational Achievement Program, which provides essential academic tutoring and mentoring to disadvantaged students who struggle in traditional middle school classrooms across Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
Highlights of this year’s “Butterfly Magic” include host and award-winning journalist Deborah Kobylt and a magic show with talented and entertaining magician Jimmy H.
Live musical entertainment will be performed by singer/composer Robin Hild with Perry Gentile on sax. Headlining the event is rising musical sensation Julia Rizik, who has performed at Stagecoach Music Festival and other major events. Rizik will perform an acoustic set, and Malibu Middle School Musicians will be performing as well.
Pepperdine University is located at 24255 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu. For information, visit emilyshane.org.
