The Music Center announced Grand Park’s fall and winter programming line-up highlighting free, outdoor activities, interactive events and cultural connections from October 2019 to February 2020.
Grand Park’s programs – curated by TMC Arts, the Music Center’s programming engine – feature the return of its most popular free activities and events with some festivities expanding into the newly renovated Music Center Plaza.
The first event is the Make Your Mark in the Park on Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Olive Court and Performance Lawn. For the eighth year in a row, Grand Park and Ryman Arts team up to present the free, fun-filled, public drawing celebration that brings together families, seniors and art lovers, including professional and amateur artists, to participate in an array of hands-on, collaborative drawing activities on every level. Grand Park will be transformed into a giant experimental drawing studio with activities that explore traditional and alternative mark-making. Guests can experiment with colored tape to create giant geometric patterns along the sidewalks and collaborate to create and share comics, masks and banners.
The next event is La Feria de los Moles, or Mole Fair, on Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Event Lawn between North Broadway and Spring Street. The largest Mexican food festival in the U.S. will provide different flavors of Mexico, including the varying types of the popular dish mole.
The Día de los Muertos week-long celebration honors the customs and traditions of “Day of the Dead’’ from Oct. 26 through Nov. 3 and is a celebration of those who have passed away. Grand Park is located at 200 N. Grand Ave. The park is open every day from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. For information, visit grandparkla.org.
