The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is investigating an additional confirmed case of measles in a resident who recently traveled and became ill with measles shortly after returning to Los Angeles County.
Potential exposure sites are Terminal 4 of the Los Angeles International Airport from 10:45 p.m. Sept. 20 to 1 a.m. Sept. 21, and the Parking Spot-Century Airport Shuttle from LAX’s Terminal 4 to 5701 W. Century Blvd. between 11 p.m. Sept. 20 and 1:20 a.m. Sept. 21.
Anyone who may have been at these locations on these dates during these timeframes may be at risk of developing measles for up to 21 days after being exposed. They should ensure they have been immunized against measles and contact and notify their health care provider as soon as possible about a potential exposure if they are pregnant, an infant, have a weakened immune system and/or are unimmunized. If they develop a fever and/or unexplained rash from seven to 21 days after exposure, they should stay home and call a healthcare provider immediately.
Measles immunizations are available at healthcare providers, local pharmacies or health clinics. Public Health clinics offer no or low-cost immunizations for individuals who are uninsured or underinsured.
