On Sept. 25, Los Angeles City Councilman David Ryu, 4th District, introduced a resolution to the Los Angeles City Council supporting the House of Representatives impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.
In recent days, a whistleblower alleged that Trump pressured the Ukrainian government to release information about his perceived political opponents and may have used official aid money as leverage to seek such action.
“I have watched in horror as President Trump has abused the powers of the presidency at the expense of the American people,” Ryu said. “This cannot go on any further. These abuses cannot go unchecked, and these allegations of treason must be investigated with the full scope of an impeachment inquiry. Someone’s got to stand up for the U.S. Constitution, and I’m proud to see our House leadership exercise their duty to hold this president accountable.”
The resolution was seconded by Council President Herb Wesson, 10th District. If passed, it would register the city’s formal support for an impeachment inquiry into Trump.
