Re “L.A. City Council considers banning street sleeping,” Sept. 12 issue
The Beverly Press reports on recent news regarding affordable and homeless housing in Los Angeles.
U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff proposes new incentives that would boost the affordable housing supply. On the other hand, City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell proposes a variety of bans to further restrict the places where homeless people can spend the night without being harassed by the police. These two approaches to solving the housing problem are like night and day.
Schiff seeks positive means for resolving a tough problem. On the other hand, O’Farrell offers only negatives.
Wouldn’t it be much better if he had included some positives – ways to help the misfortunate souls among us?
