TAG Gallery hosted the 14th annual 2019 California Open at its Los Angeles location on Aug. 10.
The show was a national juried exhibition celebrating contemporary art. TAG, an artist-operated collective, featured emerging and mid-career Southern California artists, and the exhibition featured 108 pieces selected from over 1,400 fine art submissions.
The exhibition was open to all artists 18 years and older, and it accepted computer art, drawing, mixed media, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture and video work. Accepted works will be on display and for sale through Aug. 23.
Ruth Weisberg served as the California Open’s juror. An artist herself, Weisberg is also the Director of the USC Initiative for Israeli Arts and Humanities and Professor of Fine Arts and former Dean at the USC Roski School. Weisberg has shown in over 90 solo and 200 group exhibitions. Recent presentations include major showings at the Norton Simon Museum, Pasadena; a retrospective at the Skirball Museum, Los Angeles; and a solo show at the Huntington in San Marino.
