The 2019 season of Sunset Concerts at the Skirball concludes on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 8 p.m. with a performance by producer, lyricist and trumpeter Josef Leimberg.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Leimberg’s music features Afro-futurist sounds. He has worked with Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Erykah Badu, Robin Thicke, Funkadelic and Shafiq Husayn. Leimberg released his debut album, “Astral Progressions,” in 2016. It features a hybrid of jazz fusion, world music, R&B and golden-era hip-hop instrumentalism. Leimberg will perform selections from “Astral Progressions,” as well as his upcoming album, with a full band at the Skirball Center.
Admission is free. Doors open at 6 p.m., and Novena Carmel starts the evening with a DJ set at 6:30 p.m. The Skirball Cultural Center is located at 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd. For information, call (310)440-4500, or visit skirball.org.
