Los Angeles Tea Festival
Tea lovers and inquisitive newcomers can sip top quality tea and engage in discussions and presentations on teas from every region in the world on Aug. 10-11. Try unique tea pairings, craft tea-infused cocktails and boba while enjoying entertaining performances and activities from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is an event for the whole family to enjoy. Every Monday, H&H Brazilian Steakhouse in DTLA is offering half-priced bottles of wine all day on most bottles. Summertime at Astro’s
Relive summertime memories of campfires, picnics and amusement park culinary favorite flavors with four new specialty doughnuts for the month of August. The chocolate s’mores doughnut has a bittersweet chocolate glaze, graham cracker crumble and flame-torched marshmallow on top of the cake doughnut. Cherry pie offers the flavor of a rich fruit pie in a pillow doughnut filled with cherry compote, tart red cherry glaze, pie crust crumble and powdered sugar dusting. The blueberry cotton candy has a pretty glaze and blueberry drizzle topped with blue sugar sprinkles. The sweet and tart lemonade poppy seed sprinkle doughnut has a lemonade glaze. Astro serves an array of seasonal doughnuts, specialty doughnut sandwiches and creative takes on fried chicken. Take the elevator to the West End rooftop for sweeping city views while enjoying drinks and bites. This urban oasis in the sky is a playful space overlooking Hollywood Hills and downtown L.A. Executive Chef Anthony Keene’s fresh menus focus on imaginative share plates that include oysters, spicy tuna roll, charred salmon nigiri, creamy hummus with crudités, and a pistachio, ricotta and rocket lettuce pizza. Heartier fare includes Colorado lamb ribs and a juicy cheeseburger that pair with an inventive champagne and cocktail selection. The seasonal British-inspired handcrafted cocktail list includes Churchill Goes Tiki, Her Majesty’s Mojito, English Rita, the Duchess, and the Spicy Brit. Santa Monica Proper Hotel offers a spirited rooftop destination just blocks from the beach. Executive Chef Kaleo Adams offers Mediterranean-inspired coastal dining, coupled with an interesting bar and lounge scene. Have lunch overlooking the city and sea and order a wellness juice. When the sun sets, the rooftop offers upscale-casual dining and drinks. Cultural programs include a Sunday Apertivo with acoustic music by Paris Venice, a duo hailing from the South of France. Downtown L.A.’s tropical oasis Veranda
Dine poolside at Hotel Figueroa and enjoy Executive Chef Adrian Garcia’s Mexico City-inspired menu this summer. Options include carnitas de puerco, chiles rellenos and enchiladas braised and baked “al horno” in the hotel’s outdoor brick oven. Guests can select from pescado Baja, pollo adobado and carne asada with a selection of classic tacos prepared with hand-pressed tortillas and topped with fresh house-made salsa, as well as Mexican chiles and cheese.
