The Santa Monica Playhouse Education Conservatory has announced that enrollment is open for its fall theatre workshop titled “Acting and Musical Theatre Classes for Kids and Teens” running weekly from September through November.
Participants can choose from a play production class for children ages 7 to 12 on Thursday afternoons from 4 to 6:30 p.m., or Saturday mornings 9 to 11:30 a.m. A teen performance lab for children ages 12 to 17 will be held on Saturday mornings from 9 to 11:30 a.m., and a special session for “early stagers” ages 4 to 6 will also be held on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The classes help participants expand their imagination as they act, sing, dance, play theater games, improvise and work with costumes and make-up, lighting and sound. Participants collaborate with professional playwrights and actors to create an original production, written specifically for them.
