Metro is holding a quarterly meeting on Purple Line subway project work on the Wilshire/Rodeo and Century City/Constellation stations this evening, Aug. 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Century Plaza Towers, Concourse Level D, Room A, 2029-2049 Century Park East.
A project overview and updates on subway station construction will be provided, as well as information on the business interruption fund for businesses that may be impacted by work. For information, call (213)922-6934.
Advance utility work and other preparations are currently underway as part of subway construction in Century City. In Beverly Hills, Metro is planning extensive work near a future subway station at Wilshire/Rodeo.
On Sept. 9, North Canon Drive will be closed at Wilshire Boulevard and a cul de sac will be created. Motorists will not be able to access Canon from Wilshire Boulevard for at least two years. Pedestrian access will be maintained on both sides of Canon Drive.
A 20-foot sound wall will be installed at the intersection and work will continue on the subway station. Businesses will remain accessible from Clifton Way and from southbound Canon Drive.
Farther east, work is continuing at many locations along the Purple Line Extension project route. At Wilshire/La Cienega, excavation, hauling, instrumentation and street restoration is ongoing. Excavation continues from the construction staging yards at Wilshire/La Cienega and Wilshire/Gale. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., Monday through Saturday. Hauling hours are anticipated to increase as excavation continues. Increased concrete and rebar deliveries are planned at the Wilshire/La Cienega station in September. Intermittent lane reductions, turn restrictions and sidewalk closures may be in place during non-rush hour traffic periods.
Utility and tunnel investigation is also occurring near Wilshire/Crescent Heights and Wilshire/La Jolla. Wilshire Boulevard will be intermittently reduced to fewer than three lanes in each direction between Fairfax Avenue and San Vicente Boulevard through Aug. 23, to support utility and tunnel investigation work.
Near Wilshire/Fairfax, excavation, hauling, and station construction is ongoing. Ogden Drive will be intermittently closed at Wilshire Boulevard to support construction. Intermittent lane closures may also be in place to support deck panel maintenance and investigation work in the Wilshire/Fairfax station area. Anticipated work hours are 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday.
Hauling, deliveries, and tunneling support is also occurring near Wilshire/La Brea. Intermittent lane closures may occur along Wilshire Boulevard between Highland Avenue and Detroit Street. Construction is also occurring at a work zone in the center of Wilshire Boulevard between Sycamore Avenue and Orange Drive to support tunneling. Wilshire Boulevard will be intermittently reduced to one lane between Sycamore and Mansfield avenues.
Metro is moving tunneling machines from the Wilshire/Western staging yard and transporting them in dismantled sections to the Wilshire/La Brea staging yard in August and September. Extended 24-hour work hours in the staging yards is expected.
Excavation, concrete and street maintenance work is ongoing near Wilshire/Western. Single lane closures will occur intermittently between Western Avenue and Manhattan Place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
