Horror movie fans are invited to “Camp Fangoria,” an event on Saturday, July 27, at 6:30 p.m., at The Montalban Theatre Rooftop Cinema, 1615 N. Vine St.
Since its resurrection in 2018, Fangoria magazine has produced four horror movies, including 2018’s “Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich,” which is currently available for viewing on the streaming service Shudder. “Camp Fangoria,” which was created in partnership with Arena Cinelounge, will take the festivities to the next level with an inaugural summer horror screening event.
The 10-hour triple feature opens with a live mini-episode of the horror interview podcast “Post Mortem with Mick Garris,” which is available on the Fangoria Podcast Network. Filmmaker and writer Garris and producer Joe Russo will answer questions and tell stories from their long careers in the horror industry.
“Campers” will be guided through an evening of horrors and delights by their “counselors,” Dr. Rebekah McKendry, Rob Galluzzo and Elric Kane, of the “Shockwaves” podcast. Screenings include “The Burning,” “Sleepaway Camp” and “Evil Dead 2.” The entertainment includes special guests, DJ sets, horror trivia and customized greetings from horror favorites.
Food and a cash bar, photobooth and special merchandise will be available. General admission tickets are $35; $50 for Fangoria VIP packages. For information, visit arena-screen.com.
